Emilia and Ana Maria Torres are united in their passion to create social impact. In 2016, they launched Hilo Sagrado, a social business that brings together the best curated products of female artisans from the Wayuu indigenous community in Colombia, helping to rescue their cultural traditions and recognizing their social and economic value to their communities.

After being selected by Artisan Resource to participate in the "Market Incubator Program" of NYnow, Emilia and Ana Maria’s mission to empower women and support sustainable development for communities living in critical conditions in La Guajira, Colombia has grown exponentially.

In less than a year, Hilo Sagrado has managed to enter more than 10 new markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia, operating from Bogotá, Colombia, Washington, DC and Berlin, Germany. As a result, its workforce has grown from 17 to 150 artisans, and it has been able to provide social benefits such as access to water, access to education and fair pay to artisans in more than 12 communities.

HILO SAGRADO is a Fellowship 500 Member of the Ethical Fashion Forum in London that brings together pioneers and innovators around the globe who promote ethical trade and sustainable fashion, and has been recognized by the Government of Israel as a top social entrepreneur.

This year, Hilo Sagrado is showcasing its new 2017 Accessories and Home Collection in NYnow from Feb 5-8. Booth M17.
